Log every hive
at the bench.
Even with no signal.

Skepbook is a cloudless beekeeping logbook. Structured per-hive inspections — queen, brood, mites, stores, harvest — logged right where your bees are, with zero bars. Treatment-window reminders keep you compliant. A one-tap season-summary PDF gives you the whole year. And your hive locations and honey-yield data never leave your phone.

// THE PROBLEM

Inspections happen in a field with no signal and sticky gloves.

Then the record ends up somewhere it won't survive the season — or somewhere it shouldn't be at all.

// PAPER NOTEBOOKS

Get wet, get propolis on them, get left in the truck. No way to trend a mite count across the season.

// NOTES & SPREADSHEETS

No structure, no reminders, no math. You'll never compute mites-per-100-bees with a thumb in a glove.

// CLOUD-ONLY TOOLS

A connection-dependent workflow is a poor fit for an apiary with weak or missing service.

// THE THEFT PROBLEM

Hive theft and vandalism are real. Your yard's coordinates and honey income are the last thing you want in a database.

// HOW IT WORKS

Three things, done well. One encrypted database. All on your phone.

Skepbook is a logbook, not a platform. It does the work a beekeeper actually needs at the hive and at the end of the season.

Structured inspections, fast enough for gloves.

Tap, don't type. Ratings and chips instead of keyboards, so a full inspection takes seconds at the bench.

  • Queen & brood — seen, marked, eggs present, laying pattern (1–5), capped/open brood, drone notes.
  • Temperament, stores & population — calm-to-hot rating, honey and pollen stores, feed given, strength, supers added or pulled.
  • Mite counts — alcohol wash, sugar roll, sticky board or CO2; Skepbook computes mites per 100 bees and flags the threshold.
  • Only the date is required — log a 20-second note or a full work-up, your call. Add a photo of a brood frame if you want.

Treatment windows that remind you on time.

Log a treatment and Skepbook does the calendar math — entirely with on-device notifications. No push server, no internet.

  • Withdrawal windows — “don't pull honey until the safe date” computed from the product you logged.
  • Removal reminders — strips in on a schedule? Skepbook tells you when to take them out.
  • Re-test prompts — an automatic “alcohol-wash again” nudge (default 14 days post-treatment) so a knockdown actually gets verified.
APIARYnow
Hive 1 — pull Apivar in 2 days
Strips went in Aug 14. Remove by Oct 9; honey-safe Oct 23.
APIARY8:00 AM
Hive 3 — re-test mites today
14 days since treatment. Confirm the knockdown worked.

A season-summary PDF, generated on your phone.

At the end of the year, one tap produces the report you actually keep — per hive, or your whole apiary rolled up. Generated locally, shared on your terms.

  • The whole story — inspection timeline, treatments log with dates, mite-count trend, total harvest weight, queen history.
  • For you or your inspector — clean enough to hand to a club inspector or keep for treatment-compliance records.
  • Never uploaded — built on-device, shared via the iOS share sheet. Plus full CSV export any time.

// PRIVACY PROMISE

Your hive locations and your honey income are nobody's business but yours.

Same engineering thesis as the rest of the MAJESTIC suite — Paws, What We Own, Tally, Brassmark, Pantry Clock, Lockbox. Here it's not just principle: an apiary has no signal, and its coordinates are theft-bait.

// NO CLOUD
Every hive, inspection, and harvest lives in encrypted SQLite on your phone. No server has a copy.
// LOCATION STAYS LOCAL
GPS is captured once to tag a hive, stored on-device, and never transmitted anywhere.
// NO ACCOUNT
No email, no login, no profile. Open the app at the yard and start logging.
// WORKS OFFLINE
Airplane mode, no bars, dead zone — doesn't matter. The app never waits on a network.
// WHO'S BUILDING THIS

Built by a military software dev who keeps bees.

Active-duty software developer. Same hands shipped Paws (cloudless pet records), What We Own (home inventory), Tally (on-device budget), Brassmark (private firearm registry), and Lockbox (family emergency vault) — all on the same on-device thesis. Skepbook is the one for the bee yard.

Why cloudless here, specifically? Because an apiary is the textbook case: there's no signal where the work happens, and the data — where your hives sit, how much honey they make — is exactly what you don't want sitting on someone else's server. Offline isn't a privacy nicety here. It's a functional requirement.

// FAQ

The questions a beekeeper would ask.

Yes — that's the whole point. Skepbook is fully offline. Every inspection, treatment, mite count, and harvest writes to an encrypted SQLite database on your phone. Put the phone in airplane mode and log a full inspection at a yard with zero bars. Nothing waits on a server.
On your phone, and only your phone. When you place a hive or yard, Skepbook captures the coordinates once and stores them in the local encrypted database. They are never transmitted, and there's no account that could leak them. In a community where hive theft is real, your yard's coordinates stay yours.
A per-hive or whole-apiary report generated on-device: the inspection timeline, treatments log with dates and withdrawal windows, mite-count trend, total harvest weight, and queen history. It's the artifact you keep for your records or hand to a club inspector. Built locally and shared via the iOS share sheet — never uploaded.
When you log a treatment with a withdrawal window, Skepbook schedules local notifications on the device — removal-due, honey-safe date, and a re-test-mites prompt (default 14 days later). These are iOS local notifications, so no push server and no internet are involved.
Yes. Generate an on-device PDF for a hive or apiary and share it through the iOS share sheet. You can also export complete CSV datasets. Precise GPS coordinates are excluded from reports by default.
The unrestricted trial lasts 14 days from your first saved record. A $24.99 non-consumable App Store purchase permanently unlocks editing. Reading, PDF, CSV, and encrypted backup remain available after the trial even without an unlock.
Skepbook does not upload automatic backups. Create a passphrase-protected .skepbook backup and save it somewhere you control. The passphrase cannot be recovered, so keep it safe. You can also export CSV datasets and PDFs at any time.
Skepbook is currently built with Flutter for iPhone. Android scaffolding and testing are intentionally deferred for this phase.
